| Six Places to Visit when checking out new towns |

| In our search for the perfect affordable small town, we visit a lot of small towns.
When we visit a town, we always try to visit the following six places:
- Town Square - the condition of the town square can tell you a lot about the overall condition and direction of the town
- Nearest Walmart - the shoppers in the local Walmart will give you a good idea of the kind of people who live in the town, and who would be your neighbors if you lived there
- Business District - this is the non walmart shopping area. The businesses here would be the businesses you depended on if you live in this town
- The residential district - especially the type of neighborhood you would be living in. The condition of the homes and streets tells an important story.
- The local city parks - the condition and number of city parks can tell you a great deal about the city
- The local high school - the condition of the local high school can tell you a lot about the city
If at least 4 of the above, meet or exceed our expectations, we add the town to our 'possible candidate' list.
